Revenue Collection Has Improved, Secretary Says; Filing Deadline is April 18 ; Tax Cycle Begins
Alongside Treasury Secretary Francisco Parés, Gov. Pedro Pierluisi announced last week that the Internal Revenue Unified System (SURI by its Spanish acronym) had been updated with a “modern and dynamic” navigation, improving the online user experience.
The officials also announced the start of the 2021 tax cycle, which runs through April 18, and reminded citizens to claim their tax credits and deductions in their returns, which they said in many cases represent significant amounts for individuals and families.
“I am presenting, together with the Treasury secretary, the digital tool SURI—renewed and restructured to benefit all users. Our government’s technological advances make services more agile and accessible. In addition, this tool places Puerto Rico among those with the most advanced tax administration practices,” the governor said.
